“Sentinel Selection”

Canada geese have a set pattern that they always seem to follow when the
flock has settled down after a flight to feed. There will be one who
stands guard while the rest feed. Just how this process is accomplished
has always intrigued me. Here, I speculate that the two birds in the
background are the committee that has the duty to choose this feeding’s
“sentinel”.
