Facing serious southeast exposure, this rugged beach is testimony to just what kind of weather prevails here at Lizardhead, a promontory where Chatham Straight and Icy Straight meet. These two large waterways are located between Juneau and Glacier Bay. The almost round stones really tell the story as to the force of the waves that come crashing ashore. The drift, ground down to barkless, bleached poles will certainly be long gone with many replacements following them, before the boulders are mere pebbles in the sand.
