Left over from the last ice age, this tenacious little hanging glacier
is one of many found on mainland southeast Alaska. (Judy Glacier was
named after my wife by a family friend and cannot be found on any
topographical map. She jokingly did this because when she asked the name
of the glacier, Judy simply replied, “It’s my glacier”).
While we can see this glacier and the peaks behind it from our Taku
River cabin, I chose a different vantage point across the river and up
an adjoining river that carries the drainage off this mountain and
another much larger glacier below, not seen in this painting.
