“The Golden Years”
This old gold dredge is lcoated on the Taylor Highway. I don't know its history, but I don't really need to. The many wrinkles in its rusting tin walls, the lack of doors and windows, its broken and bent back, and the many years of being scavenged and vandalized tell the story.
I do like to think about what it must have been like to hear the roar and the din caused by the powerful machinery running with the great dredge buckets clanking and scraping the bottom of the dredge pond with each scoop of gravel brought into the ore sorting bins; with all the winches pulling the dredge this way and that with taut cable rigging. It must have taken a large crew to operate this behemoth in its heyday.
